BELIEFS

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God. We believe that, although each book in the Bible was written by men, that the words they wrote were inspired by the very Spirit of God so that the words of the Old and New Testaments are truly and really God’s own words. We also believe that the Bible does not contain any errors or contradictions, but is perfectly united, coherent, complete and “…is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work” (2 Tim. 3:16-17).

Creeds & Confessions

Our church belongs to the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, a protestant denomination that falls within historic Christianity. Therefore, we uphold the teachings of the Apostle’s Creed and the Nicene Creed. As presbyterians, we subscribe to the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms.

We believe these documents are faithful summaries of what the Bible teaches about God, man, and salvation. We have also committed ourselves to a ministry that is in agreement with these Westminster standards’ interpretation of the Bible. However, we believe that Spirit-inspired Scriptures are our only, final, and ultimate authority because they alone are the Word of God.

THE GOSPEL

Because of sin, all humanity lives under the threat of God’s righteous judgment. So God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to rescue us from our sinfulness and from the consequences of our sin. Jesus lived perfectly, unlike us, in complete obedience to his Heavenly Father. And yet, he died on the cross, suffering the punishment that our sins deserve: the wrath of God.

Now, God offers us a relationship with himself that is free of condemnation, full of love and grace, and lasts forever, all and only because of what Christ has done. No sinner can possibly earn these gracious gifts. They are to be received by faith in Christ alone.

This is the good news (the gospel) we preach. And it is central to our worship. God saves sinners! And that’s good news, because we are all sinners in need of God’s grace. We invite you to join us for worship and rejoice in this glorious truth with us.

Worship

The glory of the Triune God is our greatest goal. Therefore, we seek to make the Word of God central in all we do, especially in worship. That is why our preaching, teaching, singing and praying all reflect the truths of Scripture and are based upon what God has revealed to us in the Bible. God alone (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) is worthy of reverence and adoration because He alone is the eternal, almighty Creator of heaven and earth.
